Robert Dos Remedios - Pillar of Achievement

The toolbox for Robert Dos Remedios is quite full these days. He is in great demand as a speaker and provides demonstrations all over the world to share his expertise in strength and conditioning. Just follow him on Facebook and he will be sharing pictures of himself training at home, or in any gym that he might call home, where he is calling the shots.

But on a recent warm summer day, he is back home again at Glendale College reflecting on his past as a Vaquero football player and coach and where he is now as one of the most sought after strength and conditioning professionals in the world. At age 50 this year, he can not only share his insights verbally and electronically, but can demonstrate rep for rep with anyone who wants to be bigger, stronger and faster.

“Sitting in the gym brings back a lot of memories. We would watch a ton of film as players and coaches in the room that used to be next to the stage, ’’he said smiling and shaking his head. “I grew up as a player and a young man at Glendale College and I still can’t believe I’m being singled out for this hall of fame honor. I had a great playing experience at Cal and I was really lucky to be able to comeback here and cut my teeth as a coach and in strength and conditioning. I love Glendale College and still consider it my home. I always will.’’

His story is a familiar one. In 1984, a Burbank High graduate named Robert Dos Remedios was mulling a few offers from four-year schools to play football. His parents were looking forward to him continuing his education at the next level but something about the coaches at Glendale led him down that path to wear the cardinal and gold. He also coached for the Vaqueros as well as being the Head Football Coach at Burroughs High.

Fast forwarding to the present, he was the strength & conditioning coach at College of the Canyons starting in 1998 until last year, the first full time strength and conditioning coach hired in the state at a community college. He has helped over 200 athletes get scholarships, has worked with eight football players who played in the NFL and helped COC win over 50 conference team titles and the2004 National Football Championship.

He was also named the National Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year in 2006.
