The Glendale College Vaqueros stayed unbeaten with a gritty 10–9 road victory over Mt. San Antonio on Friday, using timely extra-base hits and a big early surge to improve to 5–0 on the season.
After falling behind 1–0 in the first inning, Glendale broke the game open in the third with a five-run rally. Jackson Lyons jump-started the inning with an RBI triple, and Andrew Garcia followed with an RBI groundout. Miguel Villegas drew a bases-loaded walk, and Adonis Jenkins capped the frame with a two-run single, giving the Vaqueros a 5–1 advantage.
Mt. SAC clawed back to tie the game at 5–5 by the fifth, but Glendale responded again in the sixth with another decisive inning. Garcia delivered the biggest swing of the night, ripping a two-run double to put the Vaqueros back in front. A wild pitch allowed another run to score, and David Lozano added an RBI double to make it a four-run frame and a 9–5 Glendale lead.
The Vaqueros added crucial insurance in the eighth when Lozano launched a solo home run, his third hit of the game, extending the lead to 10–6.
Offensively, Glendale finished with 12 hits and production throughout the lineup. Lozano went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a home run, while Garcia drove in three runs. Jenkins continued his hot streak, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Lyons added a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. Villegas chipped in two hits and an RBI, and Jackson Pratt reached base three times and scored twice.
On the mound, Jimmy Cafferty earned the win, allowing three runs over four innings. Cris Banuelos bridged the middle innings, and Wes Pendelton closed out the game for his first save, stranding the tying run after Mt. SAC mounted a late rally in the ninth.
Despite pressure late, the Vaqueros held on to complete the series sweep and remain perfect, showing both offensive depth and resilience in another tight contest.
