Vaqueros Rally Past Citrus 11–9 to Open Conference Play

Glendale opened conference play with an 11–9 victory over Citrus on Tuesday at Stengel Field, powered by a big offensive day from Andrew Garcia and a five-run seventh inning.

Citrus struck first with runs in the first and third innings, but Glendale answered in the bottom of the third when Garcia launched a solo home run. Moments later, Mike Bang crushed a two-run homer to give the Vaqueros a 3–2 lead.

The Owls briefly regained momentum, taking a 4–3 lead in the fifth before Glendale responded again. Garcia ripped an RBI triple to tie the game, and Noah Jaquez followed with a run-scoring fielder's choice to put the Vaqueros back on top.

Glendale added another run in the sixth before breaking the game open in the seventh. Trevor Lain delivered an RBI single, Jackson Lyons followed with a two-run double, and Garcia capped the rally with his second home run of the game — a two-run shot that extended the lead to 11–4.

Garcia led the Vaqueros offensively, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a triple, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Lyons added two RBIs and three runs scored, while David Lozano collected two doubles and scored once. Adonis Jenkins and Jordan Viramontes each added two hits as Glendale finished with 13 hits as a team.

On the mound, Carson Maymo earned the win with two strong innings of relief, striking out three. Anthony Yepez followed with two scoreless innings, and Ethan Montes closed the door to secure the save after a late Citrus rally in the ninth.

The Vaqueros improved to 11-5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win.
