The Glendale College Vaqueros battled hard on the road but came up short against Santa Monica College, losing 27–14 in a competitive Western State Bowl matchup.
Glendale opened strong with a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Traven Thompson to take an early lead. Quarterback Braden Brimhall threw for 243 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Zamondre Merriweather on a 34-yard score in the fourth quarter. Merriweather finished with six catches for 75 yards, while Rick Langarica added 71 yards, including a 54-yard reception. Caiou Chatman led the rushing attack with 85 yards on just two carries, highlighted by a 61-yard run.
Defensively, Colin Fahrberger paced the Vaqueros with 15 tackles and two sacks, while Mark Edwards Jr. II added 10 tackles. Kicker Alejandro Pereyra was perfect on extra points, and Jeffrey Kavanagh averaged 44 yards per punt.
The Vaqueros fall to 5–4 overall (2–2 conference) but continue to show growth and balance on both sides of the ball.
