Glendale Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth in Tight Field at Marshall Canyon

The Glendale Community College men's golf team showed resilience and composure under difficult conditions, finishing fourth in a tightly contested field at Marshall Canyon.

Battling steady rain and strong winds on the back nine, the Vaqueros posted a team score of 298, just five strokes behind tournament champion College of the Canyons (293). Santa Barbara City College finished second at 296, while Citrus College edged Glendale for third on a tiebreak after matching the Vaqueros' score.

Gavin Loughran led the way for Glendale with an impressive even-par 72, tying for third overall and anchoring the lineup despite the challenging weather. Justin Huitink and Liam Husain each carded 75 to finish tied for 11th, providing valuable depth in the scoring. Andy Zhu followed closely with a 76 (T-17), and Kyle Gordon rounded out the Vaqueros' scoring with a 78 (T-20).

Despite the conditions, Glendale demonstrated steady improvement and mental toughness, bouncing back strong after its previous tournament. The result keeps the Vaqueros firmly in contention as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Glendale has two remaining Western State Conference matches before postseason play:

  • Monday, April 20 vs. College of the Canyons — 11:00 a.m. at Soule Park Golf Course
  • Monday, April 27 vs. Bakersfield College at Stockdale Country Club

The Vaqueros will then turn their focus to the Southern California Championship on May 4.

With momentum building at the right time, Glendale continues to position itself for a strong postseason push, backed by consistent individual scoring and a steadily improving team performance.
