Coach Todd Tyni was a high school golf coach at James Monroe H.S. and Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences H.S. for both the boy’s and girl’s teams from 1989 through 2013. During his 24 years of coaching high school golf, many of Coach Tyni’s players moved on to collegiate golf at the Community College and NCAA levels. He was also appointed as the Los Angeles City Section Tournament Director for the Southern Section CIF from 2002 until 2013 as a well-respected coach within LAUSD.
He has served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Glendale College from 2009 to present teaching Beginning/Intermediate Golf and took over the reins of the Men’s Golf Team at Glendale College this year. Coach Tyni is very excited for the opportunity to coach at the this level of golf and brings many years of coaching experience to a quality program. Coach Tyni has been a teacher, Assistant Principal and Dean in LAUSD for almost 29 years and feels there is nothing more important than a quality education. As an educator in LAUSD and faculty member at Glendale College, he is very impressed with the quality educational programs, teachers, and staff at GCC. While he is the Men’s Golf Coach, he is an educator first and encourages his players to make sure they are taking care of their academic requirements toward earning their Associate of Arts degree before moving on to a four year university.
