Title: Interim Head Coach
Phone: 661-877-4156
Tim Gutierrez stepped into the role of interim head cross country coach at Glendale Community College in fall 2025 after joining the Vaqueros’ staff the previous year as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field. In his first track season with Glendale, Gutierrez made an immediate impact, coaching two distance runners to conference titles — Lilit Arakelyan in the 3,000m steeplechase and Juan Zamora III in the 10,000m. Arakelyan went on to win the Southern California Regional Championship in her event, while Zamora advanced to the CCCAA State Championship, placing in the top 10 of the 10,000m.

Before arriving at Glendale, Gutierrez spent three seasons at Los Angeles Mission College (2021–2024), where he helped revitalize the program by producing the school’s first CCCAA State Cross Country qualifier in more than 20 years. He also coached at the high school level with William S. Hart (2016) and Saugus (2017–2020), developing emerging distance talent in both cross country and track.

As a student-athlete at The Master’s University (2015–2019), Gutierrez competed at two NAIA Cross Country National Championships and was part of teams that won 10 consecutive conference titles. His collegiate experience across multiple events — from the 800m through the steeplechase and 5,000m — shapes his coaching philosophy and approach to athlete development. He recorded personal bests of 1:59.49 (800m), 4:05 (1500m), 4:21 (mile), and 25:13 (8k cross country) during his career.
