The Glendale College Vaqueros women's basketball team delivered a dominant all-around performance Wednesday night, rolling past Citrus 70–40 at the Owls' Nest to remain perfect in conference play.
Glendale set the tone early, opening the game on a 22–6 first-quarter run and never looking back. The Vaqueros controlled the glass and the paint throughout the night, outscoring Citrus in every quarter and holding the Owls to just 19.3% shooting from the field.
Shadel Ffrench powered the Vaqueros with a monster performance, posting 17 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocks, anchoring Glendale's interior presence on both ends. Sammy Velasquez led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down five three-pointers to stretch the defense and spark the offense. Kaitlin Johnson orchestrated the attack with 10 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, while Ligia Gonzalez added an efficient eight points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Glendale's depth also shined, as Aniah Bradley chipped in six points and eight rebounds, and Ella Costley added five points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Defensively, the Vaqueros were relentless, finishing with six blocks and forcing Citrus into 15 turnovers.
With the win, Glendale improves to 17–4 overall and 7–0 in conference, continuing to assert itself as one of the top teams in the state. The Vaqueros will look to carry that momentum into their next conference matchup as the postseason approaches.
