Glendale Community College delivered an impressive performance at this weekend's tournament, highlighted by deep runs in both singles and doubles competition and multiple qualifications for the prestigious Ojai Tournament.
Two GCC players advanced to the semifinals in singles play, showcasing the program's growing depth and competitiveness. One of those semifinalists nearly pulled off a major upset against the tournament's top seed, pushing the match to three sets before narrowly falling 4–6, 6–2, 8–10 in a hard-fought battle.
In doubles action, two GCC teams reached the quarterfinals, competing strongly against tough opposition before being eliminated. Additionally, another Vaquero made a standout run in the backdraw, advancing all the way to the finals and further contributing to the team's overall success.
The strong showing resulted in five GCC entries qualifying for the upcoming Ojai Tournament, with three singles players and two doubles teams earning spots.
