The Glendale College Vaqueros played a strong match on the road on September 17, taking a set from Allan Hancock before falling 3–1 (19-25, 26-24, 23-25, 22-25). The loss puts Glendale at 2–7 on the season.
Glendale was led by Eva Portnaya, who had a big night with 18 kills and 8 digs, finishing with a team-high 19 points. Abigail Yeoh added 8 kills, 15 digs, and 4 block assists, giving the Vaqueros a strong presence both at the net and in the back row. Setter Shiho Uchida kept the offense moving with 33 assists and 12 digs, while also serving up 5 aces to help Glendale keep pressure on the Bulldogs. Raelee Lanphear stood out on defense with a team-high 21 digs and added 2 service aces. At the net, Journey Blueford chipped in with 4 kills, 2 solo blocks, and 6 block assists, finishing with 9 points.
Other key contributions came from Sarai Ochoa (4 kills, 7 digs) and Mika Valiente (4 kills, 5 digs). Kiana Canales was a perfect 1-for-1 on her attack attempts and added 5 digs.
The Vaqueros finished with 42 kills, 80 digs, and 12 block assists as a team. Their second-set win (26-24) showed resilience, and they pushed Hancock in both the third and fourth sets.
Glendale now looks to build on this effort as they head into the next stretch of their schedule.
