Glendale College Vaqueros Dominate in 62-0 Shutout Over Compton

From the opening whistle, the Vaqueros imposed their will on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Christian Breazeale led the charge with a lights-out performance, throwing for 290 yards and four touchdowns on 15-of-23 passing, while also adding a 5-yard rushing touchdown to start the scoring. His connection with Zamondre Merriweather proved electric, as Merriweather hauled in seven receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown, leading all receivers.

Breazeale spread the ball around effectively, finding Francisco Alcala (2 rec, 46 yds, 1 TD), Caiou Chatman (3 rec, 50 yds, 1 TD), and Timothy Johnson (32-yd TD reception) for big gains. Damien Navarro added a late score from backup QB Braden Brimhall, who went 4-of-7 for 24 yards and a touchdown in relief.

On the ground, the Vaqueros didn't need volume to make an impact. Breazeale also led the team in rushing with 25 yards on 4 carries, and Denim Clark punched in a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

Defensively, Glendale was nothing short of dominant. The Vaqueros held Compton to just 54 total yards and two first downs. The defensive unit forced three interceptions, with Rohan Green returning one for a 25-yard touchdown, and Isaac Robinson adding a 19-yard pick-six of his own. Donovan Howard grabbed the third interception to complete the turnover trifecta.

Up front, the defensive line wreaked havoc, tallying six sacks for a loss of 15 yards. Austin Aldrete and Colin Fahrberger led the way with seven total tackles each, while Mark Edwards Jr., Ethan Faria, and Josh Idleburg all contributed to the relentless pressure. Glendale held Compton to just 1.3 yards per play and 0-for-11 on third downs.

Special teams were equally efficient. Kicker Alejandro Pereyra was perfect on extra points, going 8-for-8, and averaged 50.1 yards on seven kickoffs, including two touchbacks. Punter Jeffrey Kavanagh launched a 47-yard punt and recorded a tackle in coverage.

As a team, Glendale amassed 345 total yards, including 314 through the air, while controlling the pace and field position throughout. The Vaqueros dominated time of possession and committed no turnovers, a testament to their execution on all fronts.
